Taylor & Francis Group, one of the world’s leading academic publishers, partners with researchers, scholarly societies, universities and libraries worldwide to bring knowledge to life.

The challenge

Create a unified experience for discovering, publishing & managing academic content.

With multiple imprints acquired over the years, which were designed by different teams lead to inconsistency and a disjointed experience. Taylor & Francis wanted to create a single platform for different users.

Agile & Remote working

Working in an agile way, we empowered various product teams with iterative UX support.

Daily video catch ups and reviews with the product owners enabled us to build up the experience step by step towards the launch goal.

Squads & Teams

We co-ordinated with teams across different timezones. With the headquarters located in Oxford, UK and the UX team working in Mumbai, India, we had bi-weekly video calls with the tech team and solution architects in Bangalore, India for simultaneous development.

Fortnightly Sprints

Designing the experience of the platform was distributed across fornightly sprints. Sprint goals were broken down into tasks, which were added to a backlog.

This helped us focus on what’s really important and defer the rest to a second launch.

Creating a toolkit helped us empower multiple teams to achieve consistency.

Combining preliminary research we created low fidelity wireframes to build the flow and functionality of the experience.
